1970 ½ Z/28 Camaro 383ci 487hp
The 2nd generation Camaro was produced from 1970 – 1981 and was longer, wider and lower than the 1st generation. These characteristics enabled much better handling which is why GM engineers referred to it as a driver’s car. The Z/28 special performance package included a 350ci LT-1 V8 rated at 360hp. 1970 was the first year that it could be optioned with a T400 automatic transmission and it came standard with a 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 gears. This particular example is a 2 owner car that was purchased by the 2nd owner in 1975. The heart of this beast is a 350ci V8 that was bored to a 383 and has been dyno tuned at 487 hp. It retains a solid lifter cam from Comp Cams and only the best parts were used internally. It is equipped with ported and flowed Dart Sportsman II heads, an Edelbrock RPM intake, a Holley 750 cfm carb with electric choke, it is sparked by a Davis DUI/HEI distributor and high output coil and it sounds just plain nasty ripping through its ceramic coated headers and full exhaust from Flow Master. It also has manual exhaust cut outs if you really want to upset the neighbors. The power is put to the 12 bolt posi rear end with 3:73 gears via its performance built T400 tranny which has a Hughes auto / manual valve body, a B&M 10” torque converter and a Hurst line lock. The suspension has been completely upgraded with a F41 Heavy-Duty suspension, new coils springs, new leaf springs, solid aluminum body mounts, welded in sub frame connectors and Cal-Trac traction bars. The brakes have been completely gone through with a new master cylinder, new lines, rotors, calipers and pads. The interior is a Deluxe Black that was redone recently and shows like new. It has a Custom Autosound stereo, an oversized Sun Pro tach and new seat belts with shoulder harnesses. Other items worth noting are the all new Painless wiring harness, the 1 wire 100 amp alternator, a high torque starter, the heavy duty radiator with twin cooling fans, a hi-flow aluminum water pump, tilt steering, a new CPP 500 power steering box, a new power steering pump, a forged aluminum pitman arm and Rally Sport split front bumpers. The heater and all parts have been removed as has the front spoiler but all of those parts will be included with your purchase. The flawless Bright Blue Metallic paint with Ivory stripes was redone a few years and is perfectly accented by the chrome Cragar rims. All said and done close to $40,000 was been spent bringing this beauty to its present state which did not include the cost of the car itself. We have priced this sweet machine aggressively so if you like what you see you better call us before someone else does!
