1968 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu Convertible

The 1968 Chevrolet Malibu Chevelle convertible debuted with a complete redesign, featuring a shorter wheelbase, sculpted body lines and a more aggressive stance. As part of Chevrolet’s popular mid-size lineup, it offered a blend of style, comfort and V8 performance, making it a favorite among muscle car enthusiasts of the era. Today, it remains a sought-after classic for its iconic looks and open-air driving experience. This particular example retains its original numbers matching 307ci V8 and 2-speed Powerglide transmission. It was frame-off restored 274 miles ago at which time the engine was bored .030 over and upgraded with some nice performance goodies which include the flat top pistons, a mild cam, an Edelbrock Performer intake and 4 bbl carb with electronic choke, an electronic ignition, a polished 1-wire alternator, polished valve covers, a 4-core aluminum radiator with a chrome heat shroud, ceramic coated polished headers and it sounds awesome ripping through its new dual performance exhaust. The original transmission and 10 bolt posi rear end were both gone through as well and are in excellent condition. During the restoration it was upgraded with 4-wheel disc brakes, power steering and a tilt steering column. It also received a show-quality Matador Red paint job with Tuxedo Black body stripes. It has a new black interior with all new chrome throughout as well as a new matching black soft top and boot. The interior was nicely upgraded with a black and chrome 3 spoke steering wheel, a Custom Autosound USA-230 200-watt retro stereo, new speakers and sweet set of embroidered floor mats. The exterior is topped off with a sweet set of Eagle Alloy 15” polished 5 spoke rims that really compliment the exterior chrome. All said and done over $60,000 was spent on restoring this beauty and that didn’t include the cost of the original car.
