1965 Dodge Coronet 500 440ci V8 Frame Off Restored
The Coronet was introduced as a full size car in 1949 and had a total of 7 generations ending with the 1974 Model year. In 1965 the 5th generation was reintroduced as an intermediate sized model to position it to compete in the growing Muscle Car market. It was available in a base model, a Deluxe version, a 440 and a 500. This particular example was born a 500 with White paint, a 318ci V8 and optioned with a tachometer. Approximately 15 years ago it was frame off restored at which time a freshly rebuilt 440ci V8 with a date code of 3-13-72 was installed. At the same time its original TorqueFlite transmission was rebuilt as well and the color was changed to a gorgeous Bright Red. The Black interior with silver and chrome trim was redone as well and shows incredibly. With the exception of the Custom Autosound Secret Radio, speakers and the 3 added gauges the interior is completely original. The 440 engine is fed via a Holley 4 bbl 750cfm carb and an Edelbrock Performer 400 intake. It is sparked with an electronic ignition and it sounds just plain nasty ripping through its ceramic coated headers and performance dual exhaust. The current owner purchased the car 3 years ago with just under 55,000 miles and was told it had just over 50,000 miles on it when it was restored. The only thing he did to the car besides service it was to add a new set of 15” Cragar rims with staggered BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s. Since then he has put just over 2,000 miles on the car. It shows amazingly well, it is an absolute pleasure to drive and everything works as it should. We have priced this beauty below what it cost to restore it so if you like what you see you should get in touch with us before it is too late!
